Suzhou Creek
The other river. Warehouses, a 1930s post office, a battle-scarred wall, and the city's best gallery cluster.
For a century Suzhou Creek was working infrastructure — dirty, lined with mills and warehouses, and invisible to anyone with a choice. It has been cleaned, its banks turned into a continuous public path, and its warehouses turned into galleries. Following it west is the most interesting two hours of flat walking in Shanghai.
